# Open Planet partners with World’s Largest Lesson to inspire young storytellers for nature • News

Open Planet has teamed up with the World’s Largest Lesson and THE NAT to create “Wild Futures for Storytelling”: a free classroom resource designed to empower young people to explore how stories can shape the future of the natural world.

The lesson plan invites students aged 8–14 to examine the role of storytelling in driving awareness, empathy and action for nature. Combining Open Planet’s footage library with creative learning activities, students are encouraged to develop their own narratives and discover their voices as future changemakers.

The lesson forms part of the World’s Largest Lesson’s global mission to support educators in delivering engaging, meaningful learning around the UN Sustainable Development Goals, while drawing on Open Planet’s expertise in storytelling for impact.

The video materials created for the lesson feature excerpts from Ocean with David Attenborough, the landmark feature film co-produced by Open Planet Studios. The team behind the film share clips as examples of how to take audiences on a journey of wonder and jeopardy to inspire action.

“Wild Futures for Storytelling” launched as a virtual live lesson in December 2025, joined by nearly 3,000 students across 31 countries. The resources have since supported educators and students globally as they continue to bring creativity into the classroom.

> "The whole lesson was fascinating. For our small school, taking part in such a big event was inspiring. The students loved exploring climate through storytelling, learning how to create impact stories, and reflecting on ocean protection through Ocean with David Attenborough."
