Open Planet enables everyone to share their story of India as part of powerful new campaign • News

Open Planet has collaborated on a first-of-its-kind campaign, Planet India, inspired by the country’s historic G20 Presidency. In a world-first, the high-quality footage captured for the campaign has been made available to others for free on Open Planet, creating the largest, most powerful open library of Indian climate and nature footage in history.

Planet India is an inspiring visual storytelling campaign that celebrates the passionate people and communities across India driving climate and nature innovation. It showcases never-before-seen stories of India’s response to the planetary crisis – from protecting snow leopards in Himachal Pradesh, to restoring city lakes in Bangladesh, to planting forests in Assam, to bringing clean energy to rural India.

Launched ahead of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, Planet India will reach hundreds of millions at this crucial moment for global decision-making. By showing the ingenious solutions adopted by India’s climate and nature heroes, the campaign hopes to inspire others to act. The landmark climate-positive campaign was created in partnership with multi-award-winning filmmakers Studio Silverback and India’s leading creator economy platform PlucTV.

“If we want to change how the world views nature, how the world tackles climate change, and how we look after people, then we have to change the story – and the way we tell the story. Planet India is our attempt to do that.”

— Colin Butfield, Director of Open Planet and Executive Director of Studio Silverback

“For the past year, the Planet India team has been going to every corner in the country and collecting some of the most amazing visuals of mangroves, lakes, and snow-capped mountains. We will open source that footage [on Open Planet] for everyone in the world to be able to download and tell their own Planet India story."

— Tamseel Hussain, Founder and CEO of PlucTV

Leading content creators from across India are among the first to use footage from Open Planet to create their own unique Planet India stories – and are calling on others to do the same. Hear more about how they’re using Open Planet, and meet some of India’s climate and nature heroes:
