User Guide for Hylo Forums

Registration

You can join Hylo by accepting an invite email from an existing Hylo community or clicking on a Hylo community invite link that someone shares with you. By clicking on the link to join a Hylo forum – whether county or activity-based – you will be able to:

· Confirm your email address as your user ID

· Create your own user password

Once registered you can log back into Hylo via www.hylo.com using those details.

Sharing information

At the top of the forum stream, click on the box that says: “click here to start a post”.

This box will appear. From the drop-down menu at top left you can click on the type of post – most commonly a discussion you wish to share with other people – and then:

· Type in a title for your post

· Write in the detail where it says “Add a description”

· You can use the menu above for bullet points and including weblinks, and the menu below for including images or attaching a file

· Click on the arrow bottom right to share with the rest of the forum

· You can edit a past post by clicking on the three dots at its top right

· You can comment on other people’s posts by clicking on the bottom right box

Notifications

To be told by email when anyone posts in your forum:

Click on your home button at the very top left of the main of the main screen.

Then scroll down that home menu and click on “Notifications”, at which point this page appears:

You can then:

· Switch all the global and default group notification buttons to ON

· Choose the detail you want to receive from the post notifications menu – No Posts, Important Posts or Every Post

· Choose whether you want to receive an email summary Daily, Weekly or Never

· If you are a member of more than one forum, you can override these defaults by clicking on the settings button at the right of each group-specific entry.

When finished, you can find the logout button at the bottom of your home menu.
