Introduction to the National Emergency Briefing
The National Emergency Briefing is a rapidly growing public information programme to make sure that Parliament and the people are clearly and honestly briefed on the climate and nature crisis - an essential step in ensuring that our nation can act at the speed and scale we need.

This groundbreaking briefing was held on the 27th November, at Westminster Central Hall, for more than 1,200 MPs, peers and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media. The event was opened by broadcaster Chris Packham, who introduced evidence-based briefings by leading UK experts on the risks that the crisis poses to the UK in terms of health, food security, national security and the economy.
The atmosphere was electric. At times, members of the audience were in tears. But by the end, they were energised and uplifted by the potential for action. For those not familiar with the National Emergency Briefing, here’s a short introductory film:a short introductory film.
What’s next?
Now, we are taking the landmark briefing to the country, in the form of a public information film that is urgent, clear and watchable. It will include some of the content of the briefing itself, alongside additional personal interviews with our experts. The aim is for the film to be emotionally engaging rather than data-heavy.
The film also introduces a human, reaction-based layer, in the vein of Gogglebox. Chris Packham will watch the briefing alongside people from all walks of life, including some well-known, trusted public figures. Their reactions will make the talks feel relatable.
The film will be released in April. The intention is that people watch it together as human beings and citizens, ideally with their local MP, discuss it afterwards in a facilitated format, and leave feeling motivated to engage and act.
Our aim is to inform every MP about the crisis, cutting through the disinformation and lobbying that they receive, so that their policy decisions will more accurately reflect the risks we face. Through the film, we also aim to persuade those MPs who have not yet signed up to support a Parliamentary Call for government to stage a prime-time televised emergency briefing.
The NEB has an unprecedented level of support from a diverse range of national organisations such as the National Trust, WWF, the National Education Union and the RSPB.
We will be working with partner organisations who will promote the screenings to their large memberships. Faith groups are offering significant support and are looking to show the film in cathedrals, mosques and other faith spaces. We also have interest from community halls, libraries, NHS trusts and councils. Our vision is for screenings to be accessible to everyone across the UK, regardless of location.
These local screenings will ensure the briefing breaks through government and media silence, with an irresistible call that the whole country should hear this vital information. For national resilience to be built, the public must first understand the threat.

How you can help
If you, or your organisation (if you’re part of one), would like to host a screening, please register your initial interest via the form on the National Emergency Briefing website. No commitment is needed at this stage. We will send further information to all those who register.
For a screening, you will need a venue and basic projection equipment. We also ask that you invite your MP, civic groups, local councillors and journalists, along with the local community. We hope to see multiple screenings in each constituency, to give MPs every chance to attend. We will let you know of other nearby screenings to help avoid clashes, and are working on an interactive map for our website, showing screening locations.
What we provide
We will provide you with the film; guidance on running the event, including the post-screening discussion; publicity assets (copy, images and social media materials); practical checklists and timelines; and ongoing support from our team.
We aim to make it easy for everyone to organise a screening whilst offering a consistent, high-quality and impactful experience nationwide.
This is the moment to take the briefing beyond Westminster and into communities across the country, bringing about the transformative changes we urgently need. We invite you to be part of making that happen.
